The 2M Group is an alliance of local authorities concerned at the environmental impact of Heathrow expansion on their communities. The membership comprises the London Boroughs of Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, Southwark and Wandsworth, and the boroughs of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead and South Bucks District Council. The group, which took its name from the 2 million residents of the original 12 authorities, now represents a combined population of 4 million people. Members are not anti-Heathrow but feel passionately that the Government consistently fails to either acknowledge or assess the airport's full environmental impact.
HACAN Clearskies is the principal lobbying group which campaigns for quieter, cleaner and safer conditions for residents living under Heathrow's flight paths. Its website contains details of the expansion plans, the arguments against them, and of how to participate in the current Government consultation.
Stop Heathrow Expansion is a website initiated by HACAN which provides information specific to the expansion plans as well as hosting an online petition against the expansion.
NoTRAG is a residents' organisation, supported by the London Borough of Hillingdon, which is opposed to the building of a third runway at Heathrow Airport.
AirportWatch is an umbrella movement which unites the national environmental organisations and the airport community groups opposed to the aggressive go-for-growth policy of aviation expansion outlined in the Aviation White Paper.
